My story
Hello and welcome! My name is Miriam, and if you’re reading this right now, I’m incredibly grateful that our paths have crossed. My hope is that by sharing a (tiny) bit about myself here, you’ll feel connected enough to listen to my music, reach out with any reflections, and share it all with others.
If there is one thing that has become abundantly clear through the years, it is that I am a lover of learning and growth. The overarching theme of curiosity feels as familiar as the air I breathe. There is a foundational desire to understand. And perhaps, even more so, to understand amidst the unknown in the most dialectical of ways.
The learning and exploration starting young. A daughter of two incredible musicians, I was bound to play at least one instrument. By the age of 12, I was learning 4 (piano, viola, french horn, and bass guitar). Because I was raised, at least for the formative years, in a small northwestern Iowa town, I received personalized instruction at the local elementary and middle schools. What a gift this was! The individualized instruction really began to foster my love for collaborative music amidst the solo piano practice and performances. The sheer impact of piano lessons and performance, orchestra and chamber orchestra, band and jazz band work all fueled a fire for the intangible that music seemed to continually offer.
Feel. Sit. Breathe. Improvise.
After a bachelors and first masters in piano performance, I began to venture into the mainstream music world. This happened alongside a move to Atlanta, GA and the experience of a life-altering illness/reaction to a copper IUD. To say that these experiences greatly impacted me would be an understatement. I had no idea that during the next 7 years, I would experience immense amounts of love, loss, grief, growth, and ultimately hope and peace. I also did not expect this to catapult the process of unpacking the generational trauma that had been passed down for decades.
Years after an introduction to yoga, a holistic approach to medical care, multiple yoga teacher training certifications (RYT200, RYT300, RYT500, iRest Level One), a second masters in social work and independent clinical licensure (LCSW), I have come to the conclusion that regardless of where I am in life, feeling what arises, sitting at the piano, taking some deep breaths, and recording improvisation is… well… a way of being.
Feel. Sit. Breathe. Improvise.
This is the process for me (at least at this time) – – – and I’d like to invite you alongside as I continue to release music that truly represents the processing of so much in my life. What do you feel when you listen? What do you observe in your own body? What memories arise? What can the experience of listening and feeling offer your own individualized experience?

Grateful for you –
